Setting Weekly Hour Limits

Hourly contracts on goLance offer a flexible option for clients and freelancers to manage projects and payments. One tool available to clients when hiring freelancers is the option to set a weekly limit on working hours. Here is what you need to know about weekly limits for hourly contracts:

What is a Weekly Limit?

A weekly limit is the maximum number of hours a freelancer can invoice to an hourly contract in one week. It is set by the client during the hiring process and serves as a tool for managing project spending. This weekly limit can also be updated at any time by the client.

Bonus Payments for Hours Worked Beyond the Weekly Limit

If a freelancer needs to exceed the weekly limit, they should discuss this with the client in advance. The client can issue bonus payments for any hours worked beyond the weekly limit. This will ensure that the freelancer is compensated for their work, and the client can maintain control over project spending.

Increasing Weekly Limits

If the client would like to increase the weekly limit, they can do so at any time. The increase will take effect immediately, and any hours already logged in the Work Diary will count against the new limit for the current week.

In order to change the weekly limit of a contract, follow these steps:

Hover over "my goLance" and click on contracts.
Choose the contract that you want to make the change on.
Click Settings
Look for the Weekly Limit under the "Contract" section. Change the number in the block the limit that you would like instead.
Click "Change" to set the new weekly limit.

Please note that we do not provide the option to entirely remove the limit. However, you can change the limit to as high as you need it to be.| It is important to note that it is not recommended to work past the weekly limit set by the client. Doing so may result in unpaid work and dissatisfaction for both the freelancer and the client.
